Gather your people and share a piece of land. OurLands makes it easy and affordable for small groups to buy, hold and care for land together, one place at a time.
A real share of real land, a vote on how it's used, and a few duties to the place and the people in it. From $159 down, with your monthly share shown before you commit.

The problem
Two things keep getting harder at the same time.
Owning a typical U.S. home now costs about $1.28 million over 30 years, counting the mortgage, taxes, insurance and upkeep. That cost rose 7.7% in the past year. Wages rose 3.1%.

In October 2026 the average 30-year mortgage rate climbed to 7.4%, its highest in nearly a year.
Source: Freddie Mac Primary Mortgage Market Survey, Oct 8, 2026
57% of U.S. adults say they are lonely. Among Gen Z it is 67%.
What we're building
We bring together people who share values to buy and care for land together. We go slowly. Nothing is purchased until the people, the land and the budget align.
Each member holds a defined share of the LLC that owns the land. Real ownership, documented legally and digitally.
One member, one vote. Shared costs, shared work, shared decisions.
Your membership is in one community on one piece of land. Visiting other OurLands properties is an optional pass, not the promise.
Community here isn't a vibe. It's one piece of land and the people bound to it. You share the costs, the work and the decisions.
Where we're looking
Owner-financed parcels of two acres and up, in places where people already go outdoors and land is still affordable. These are places we're curious about, not committed to. Nothing is purchased until a community aligns.
High desert and mountains. The most-booked camping county in our data, with the deepest pool of owner-financed land.
Flagstaff, the Mogollon Rim and the Grand Canyon's doorstep, with large owner-financed parcels.
The quieter side of the Catskills, a few hours from the city, with strong camping demand.
Redwoods and coast, with a few large parcels that could hold a community.
Hill Country rivers and ranchland, about an hour from San Antonio.
Ranked using public Hipcamp booking data by county and a scan of owner-financed listings. We'll add and drop places as we learn.

Become an Ambassador
Being an ambassador — it's about sharing something you genuinely believe in, helping shape the early culture, and being part of something meaningful from the beginning.
Ambassadors are the heart of OurLands communities. Here's what you'll be responsible for:
Define and nurture the shared values, goals, and culture of your community. Help members align on a common purpose.
Plan regular meetups, workshops, and activities that bring members together—both online and on the land.
Be the primary point of contact. Welcome new members, answer questions, and keep everyone informed.
Attract committed people who share your community's values and help them get started.
Ensure a respectful, inclusive environment. Address conflicts and maintain the community guidelines. Read the Member and Ambassador Standards
Help members navigate land ownership, connect with resources, and achieve their personal goals.
Time commitment: We expect ambassadors to spend about 5-10 hours per month on community activities. This is a volunteer role driven by passion, not obligation.
Our first ambassadors are being recruited now. The profiles below are illustrations of the role.

Illustration
Colorado Mountain Ambassador
Former outdoor educator with 10+ years of experience leading wilderness programs. Passionate about creating spaces where people reconnect with nature.

Pacific Northwest Ambassador
Tech entrepreneur turned community builder. Left Silicon Valley to pursue meaningful connections and sustainable living in the forests.

Desert Southwest Ambassador
Artist and permaculture designer dedicated to regenerative living. Believes in the transformative power of community and creativity.
OurLands was born from a simple belief: everyone deserves access to nature and community. We're transforming how people think about land ownership, making it collaborative, accessible, and meaningful.
To make land ownership accessible to everyone, creating pathways for people to connect with nature and build meaningful communities.
We believe in the power of shared experiences and collective ownership to create lasting bonds and sustainable stewardship.
Reconnecting people with the natural world through accessible land ownership opportunities across diverse landscapes.
A future where everyone has the opportunity to own a piece of land, no matter their background or financial situation.

High costs, long commutes, and isolation despite being surrounded by millions. The American Dream feels increasingly out of reach.
Own a share of land with people committed to the same place. Work remotely, show up for your community, and live the life you've been dreaming about, starting at $159 down.

The Solution
OurLands enables you to own a share of a specific piece of land through an LLC formed for that community. Example parcel: 21.68 acres for $69,000, split into 86 quarter-acre shares at about $800 each. $159 down, then the rest over ten years at the fixed rate the land seller carries the note at, with no prepayment penalty. That's about $9.50 a month on the example parcel at an 8% example rate (8% APR), fee included: about $7.80 toward the land plus the $1.75 monthly membership fee. At-cost dues for taxes, insurance and filings are on top.
How it happens
From curiosity to ownership, in the order it actually happens.
Land we're curious about, not committed to.
Ambassadors invite people from a world they're already part of.
How present people want to be, and what's realistic.
A model, not a commitment.
Acreage, shared and personal space, how many members it can hold.
The LLC, shares, duties and exits, documented up front.
Nothing is purchased and no one is locked in.
Why OurLands
A new model of land ownership: shared, slow and community-driven.
A defined share of the LLC that owns the land. No banks, no credit checks.
Then about $9.50 a month on the example parcel at an 8% example rate (8% APR), fee included. Pay off your share over 10 years, with no prepayment penalty.
Your membership is in one community on one piece of land. Visiting other OurLands properties is an optional pass.
Each community is shaped by its ambassador and members, not by a corporation. One member, one vote.
Tiny homes, yurts, cabins and shared structures, where zoning and the community's land plan allow.
If life changes, your share can pass to someone from the wider OurLands community, through a process agreed up front.
Example stories
These are illustrations of the kind of story we hope to tell, not real members yet. The first communities are forming now.

Example: a remote software developer, Colorado
"The community aspect is what sold me. It's not just land—it's belonging to something meaningful with people who share my values."
Example: a digital nomad, Arizona
"After years of paying rent in the city, owning my own parcel felt like a dream. The flexibility to build my tiny home sealed the deal."
Example: a freelance designer, Oregon
